2XKO Version 1.2.1 Adds Teamfight Fuse and Duo Voice Chat

Riot Games has rolled out a significant update for its tag-team fighting game 2XKO, bringing the title to version 1.2.1. On console, this is listed as update 2.002.010. While the patch includes the usual stability fixes and balance adjustments, its headline additions are a brand-new Fuse called Teamfight, a system for finding a duo partner, and integrated voice chat for those teams. The update also introduces a Replay Takeover feature and new accessibility options, making this one of the most feature-rich patches since the game’s launch.

Teamfight Fuse Brings Simultaneous Two-on-One Action

The centerpiece of the 1.2.1 patch is the Teamfight Fuse, a high-risk, high-reward mechanic that allows both champions on a team to fight simultaneously for a limited window. Activating Teamfight is straightforward: players press the dedicated Fuse button in combination with any normal attack. Once triggered, both the Point champion and the Assist champion occupy the screen for seven seconds, creating a temporary two-versus-one scenario. The activation must be performed on the ground, though players can cancel any attack directly into the activation command. While Teamfight is active, the team using it cannot generate meter, and while they can use Supers, they are prohibited from using Ultimates. The duration of the Fuse is dynamic, as taking damage reduces the remaining time based on the damage received. An Ultimate hit from the opponent will end Teamfight instantly. The Assist champion also operates under specific restrictions during this state, with all attacks counting as mid, originating from the same side as the Point champion, and the Assist cannot perform throws. Players can unlock this new tool by completing the dedicated tutorial in the Learning Hub.

Find a Duo and Duo Voice Chat Streamline Team Play

Recognizing that 2XKO is fundamentally a team game, Riot has introduced a pair of features designed to make finding and communicating with a partner seamless. The new Find a Duo system is integrated directly into the client. Players preparing for a match can select the plus sign and navigate to the Find a Duo option, which will pair them with another player also seeking a teammate. Once matched, both players can enter a lobby together to practice and build synergy. Accompanying this is the long-requested Duo Voice Chat feature. This in-game voice communication is disabled by default for privacy. To enable it, players must navigate to Settings, then Text and Voice Chat, and toggle Duo Voice Chat on. Once activated, players will automatically enter a voice channel whenever they partner with someone who also has the setting enabled. It is important to note that there is no push-to-talk option for this feature; the microphone is active as soon as the voice chat session begins.

Replay Takeover and Speech-to-Text Accessibility

The patch also introduces two quality-of-life features that cater to different segments of the player base. The Replay Takeover allows players to pause any recorded match and take control of either team. This provides a powerful tool for practicing specific scenarios, refining defense against tricky mix-ups, or testing new combo routes in a controlled environment. Pressing the Takeover button again will reset the situation. For accessibility, the update adds a Speech-to-Text option that converts in-game voice chat speech into on-screen text. This feature is located in the Accessibility settings menu and is designed to make the new Duo Voice Chat feature usable for players who are hard of hearing or prefer reading communication.

Core System Changes and Fury Adjustment

Beyond the new content, Riot has implemented several key system changes aimed at improving gameplay consistency and comeback potential. A significant adjustment concerns the Assist cooldown following a champion KO. The cooldown has been reduced from three seconds to two seconds, making it easier for a player to fight back after losing a champion. This shorter window allows for quicker access to Super Assists and team pushblocks, particularly when cornered. The Fury mechanic has also received a targeted adjustment to align it more closely with the Break mechanic. Previously, activating Fury while an opponent was in block stun could grant the attacker an advantage. This inconsistency has been removed. Now, blocking a Fury activation will always result in a wall bounce, and the hit and on-block reactions have been unified to match Break, providing a more predictable and intuitive experience for both players.

Champion Balance and Bug Fixes

Riot has confirmed that this patch features a lighter slate of champion-specific changes. The design philosophy is to keep the roster stable so players can experiment with the new Teamfight Fuse without their usual game plans being upended. The patch includes light buffs for some characters and a light nerf for Illaoi, alongside targeted bug fixes. Several notable bugs have been addressed. A critical issue that caused players to become stuck on the loading screen after champion select has been fixed, which has also allowed for the re-enabling of the spectating feature. A bug that awarded undeserved 2XKOs has been corrected. Other fixes include a visual bug with Limit Strike camera effects, an issue where characters would pass through each other during guard crush scenarios after a push block, and a training mode fix where bots would not correctly execute forward or back jumps for reversal options. The Replay pause menu has also received a visual update, and a bug that displayed a previous Battle Pass reward on the post-match screen instead of the upcoming one has been resolved.
