Control Resonant: Find Every Ice Cream Truck

Learn how to locate every ice cream truck in Control Resonant using audio cues and strategic tips.

By Central
The game hides ice cream trucks until you are near, but audio chimes and resource crates reveal their locations.
Highlights
  • Each ice cream truck emits a unique audio chime that carries farther than the map draw distance.
  • Large resource crates with ice cream cone icons are always placed within 50 meters of a vendor.
  • Each zone's vendor has a health upgrade point, and three upgrades permanently increase your health bar.

You don’t find ice cream trucks by staring at the map. That’s the first thing to unlearn. The game only reveals vendor markers when you’re practically standing on them — dozens of meters at most, often less. You can clear three zones before seeing a single one if you’re relying on the minimap.

The real locator is audio. Each truck emits a chime — a warped, creepy rendition of a classic ice cream jingle. It carries farther than the map draw distance. Train yourself to recognize it. When you hear that sound in any zone, stop moving, look around, and follow the noise. The truck is almost always within visual range from where the chime first becomes audible.

How Vendor Detection Actually Works

The map marker only appears when your character is roughly 30-40 meters from the truck. Before that, the icon simply doesn’t render — even if you’ve unlocked the zone’s radar and revealed points of interest. This isn’t a bug. It’s intentional design.

There is exactly one vendor per zone. Every zone. No exceptions. That includes the tutorial zone where you start. Miss that one early and you’ll spend hours underpowered.

The one trick that saves time: Large resource crates — the ones with the ice cream cone icon floating above them — are always placed near vendors. Not always right next to them, but within the same building cluster or street block. If you see one of those crates on the map, you’re within 50 meters of a truck. Use that as a triangulation point.

Deliveries Are Zone-Locked

This matters more than most players realize. Each vendor’s inventory reflects the zone they sit in. The Park vendor stocks mold-related resources — edible globs, fungal growth, the Molding Bar artifact. The Central vendor carries different materials entirely.

If you need Aberrant remnants for a late-game weapon upgrade, Central’s vendor won’t help you. You need to know which zone drops which materials, then find that zone’s truck.

Practical takeaway: when you enter a new zone, prioritize locating the vendor before doing anything else. Not for shopping — for the health upgrade. Every single vendor has a health upgrade point within arm’s reach. Three of those increase your health bar permanently. That’s six vendors across six early zones for two full health upgrades without killing anything.

The Economics of Buying Living Shards

Vendors sell living shards for 4,000 source each. This is the one thing worth draining your wallet for — everything else you can farm. Living shards unlock new weapon forms and combo finishers, and they’re the only reliable way to boost Aberrant Strength by +5 per unlock.

Each vendor has a limited stock. You can buy one or two shards per truck, then you’re locked out until the next resonant cycle resets vendor inventory. If you’ve cleared all trucks in a cycle and still need shards, you wait until the next boss kill refreshes the world.

The Downtown Vendor You Probably Missed

The Downtown vendor is tucked behind the auction house in a narrow alley. No direct road access. The chime is muffled by surrounding buildings. Most players find this one last or not at all. Listen for the jingle near the construction site on the south side, then cut through the gap between the two ruined storefronts.

When to Stop Vendoring

By mid-game, you should have enough materials from world feats and enemy drops that vendors become a convenience, not a necessity. The exception is the Park zone’s Molding Bar artifact — 1,000 source for immunity to the infected status effect at the cost of 50% max health. For the Park resident boss fight, that trade is often worth making.

After that, vendor purchases shift to reset items (15,000 source — skip these, vending machines drop them for free) and the occasional material you’re one short of.
