The Shrouded Sky update has officially launched for Arc Raiders, introducing significant gameplay additions and comprehensive balance adjustments. This major patch delivers the long-awaited hurricane map condition, new enemy Arcs, a fresh location, and a sweeping rework of weapon performance that targets several dominant meta choices.
New Threats Emerge in the Storm
Two new Arcs have been added to the roster of mechanical adversaries. The Firefly is a flying unit equipped with a rapid-deployment flamethrower, presenting a unique challenge due to its armored resilience and minimal attack telegraphing, a danger amplified during the noisy hurricane condition. The Comet, slightly larger than a Pop Arc, is a rolling explosive threat whose weak point is located centrally between its two wheels, requiring precise targeting to neutralize before it detonates.
The Hurricane Reshapes Combat Fundamentals
The headline environmental feature is the new hurricane map condition. This persistent storm continuously drains Raider shields, preventing natural regeneration while within its area of effect. This forces tactical repositioning to safe zones for shield recovery. Furthermore, the storm illuminates players, increasing visibility in dark environments and adding a strategic layer to shield management and positioning during engagements.
Controlled Access Zone Demands Team Coordination
A new location, the Controlled Access Zone, has been added to the Dam Battlegrounds map. It features two treasure rooms. One requires a specific key to unlock, while the other presents a cooperative puzzle demanding simultaneous input from four different Raiders on four separate buttons. Solving this puzzle grants access but also requires a Leaper Core to claim the loot within, setting a high bar for coordination and resource investment.
Weapon Balance Receives Major Overhaul
The update implements targeted nerfs to several prevalent weapons. The Stitcher sees reductions to its headshot multiplier (from 2.5x to 1.75x), base damage (7 to 6.5), and a significant increase in weapon dispersion, making it less reliable at range. The Kettle’s base damage is reduced from 10 to 8.5. The Ventor, a PvP staple, also receives nerfs, with its headshot multiplier dropping to 2x and base damage to 8.
Legendary Weapons Get Purposeful Buffs
Conversely, some legendary weapons have been enhanced. The Jupiter now features increased Aim-Down-Sights magnification and faster equip/unequip times, improving its handling. The Aphelion receives substantial improvements aimed at PvP viability, including reduced reload time, decreased time between shots, a 50% reduction in vertical recoil, and a 35% increase in ADS speed.
Addressing Skill Gaps and Weapon Tiers
The patch also rectifies an issue from a previous update that inadvertently lowered semi-auto fire rates and removed the skill ceiling for paced firing. A new input buffering system now works on a per-weapon basis, rewarding properly timed shots over simple spam-clicking while making the latter more viable than before. Additionally, the developers have begun addressing community feedback regarding lower-tier weapons outperforming their legendary counterparts, aiming to recalibrate the intended power hierarchy.
Cosmetics and Progression Expand
The cosmetic suite expands with the highly requested addition of beards. A new Surgeon Deck offers a skin set for the Surgeon specialization, multiple Raider Tokens, items, and a final full-beard cosmetic. A new standalone skin, “Boler” (meaning “to fly” in Italian), offers three color variants with modular helmet options like visors and goggles, a hood, pauldrons, and ropes, purchasable with Raider Tokens. The Patchwork outfit received new toggleable options for goggles and headgear.
Expedition and New Systems
The Expedition progression system received a detailed UI overhaul, clearly displaying stash value and skill point requirements. A new community-driven Weather Monitor System project allows players to contribute items for collective rewards. Dozens of other changes, including UI and performance improvements, crash fixes, and even the addition of a playable piano, round out the update.
This substantial update fundamentally alters the Arc Raiders landscape, introducing punishing new environmental challenges, demanding cooperative puzzles, and rebalancing the arsenal to shift the combat meta. The changes reward tactical play and team coordination more than ever, pushing Raiders to adapt their strategies to survive the intensified storm.
