DICE has just unveiled the complete patch notes for Battlefield 6’s next major update, version 1.2.3.0, scheduled to deploy on April 14 across all platforms. This substantial drop goes far beyond simple bug fixes, introducing a wave of free new content, pivotal gameplay adjustments, and foundational system reworks that will significantly alter the combat and progression landscape. From a new frontline vehicle and a brutal melee weapon to a complete overhaul of the defibrillator gadget, the update represents one of the most comprehensive post-launch patches to date, addressing player feedback across multiplayer, Battle Royale, and Gauntlet modes.
New Content and Core Gameplay Evolution
The headline additions in patch 1.2.3.0 are the new Operation Augur limited-time mode and two key pieces of gear. Operation Augur will pit teams against each other across Contaminated and Hagental Base. The LTV, a new NATO variant of the Traverser Mark 2 APC, joins the vehicle roster as a frontline support option. For close-quarters specialists, the Ripper 14” Machete arrives as a new melee weapon, unlockable through the Hunter/Prey Battlepass progression. Alongside this, a new Battle Pass Bonus Path expands the reward pool available during the ongoing seasonal fight.
Perhaps the most significant systemic change is a rework of progression philosophy. Weapon XP and Vehicle XP are now earned through active use in addition to kills and assists, ensuring supportive playstyles are consistently rewarded. XP rates have also seen a slight increase of 5% to 10% across multiplayer modes. In Battle Royale and Gauntlet, progression now places more weight on time spent in a match, with Battle Royale specifically awarding higher scores for kills and damage assists.
Combat, Networking, and Vehicle Tuning
Enhanced Hit Feedback and Registration
A major focus of this patch is improving combat clarity and fairness. Incoming hit audio has been fine-tuned so rapid consecutive hits are clearer, especially against high rate-of-fire weapons. Visual bullet tracers now line up more reliably with the damage received, and projectile behavior has been stabilized to prevent shots from spawning at the wrong height during stance transitions under poor network conditions. Notably, the trade-kill distance has been reduced to 30m from 50m, which should reduce frustrating cases of damage rejection in mid-range engagements. New network warning icons with value readouts provide better visibility into connection issues during live combat.
Vehicle-Specific Adjustments
The vehicle meta receives targeted adjustments. The RHIB boat has undergone a broad polish pass for better handling and feel. More impactful are the changes to air vehicles. The Scout Helicopter’s Heavy Rotary Cannon sees its rate of fire reduced from 1000 to 800 RPM and its effective falloff range shortened, while its grenade launcher receives a muzzle velocity increase and infinite reserve ammo. Attack Helicopter heavy rocket lethal and splash radii have been reduced. The Legion CWZ Automated AA has been improved to prevent enemy jet theft or spawn-killing. The new LTV vehicle adds a fresh ground transport and combat option to NATO forces.
Major Gadget Reworks: The Defibrillator Overhaul
The Defibrillator receives its most significant balance pass since launch. DICE stated the goal is to preserve clutch squad revives while encouraging more deliberate use, as it was previously too easy to revive multiple teammates in quick succession with minimal risk. The gadget now operates on a charge system, starting with 3 charges that regenerate one every 4 seconds. Revives require a 0.35-second charge to initiate, and the health restored scales from 50 to 100 based on charge time. Crucially, damage dealt to enemies also scales with charge, meaning a fully charged shock once again deals 100 damage, capable of a one-hit kill. A new progress crosshair UI helps players time their revives effectively.
Other gadgets see polish: the AJ-03 COAG Med Pen has a shortened injection animation and added third-person healing support while prone, and the Protective Mask now has a low battery warning visual.
Weapon Polish and Progression Refinements
A broad weapons pass brings numerous fixes and tweaks. Hollow Point and Synthetic Tip ammunition now cost less on most weapons. Specific weapon and attachment bugs have been corrected, including animation issues on the DB-12, optic presentation on the DRS-TH, and the benefit of the Violet Laser on the NVO-228E Assault Rifle. The update also corrects a wide array of challenge tracking issues across weekly, seasonal, and career progression, ensuring players are properly rewarded for their accomplishments. UI improvements across menus, loadouts, and the End of Round screens aim for greater clarity and consistency.
Portal, AI, and REDSEC Mode Updates
Portal Creator Tools and AI Enhancements
Portal receives a powerful new tool: the Portal Gadget, an equippable item for custom experiences that allows creators to trigger tailored gameplay logic at precise moments and locations. Bot support has been expanded across all multiplayer experiences, maps, and modes, with improved navigation, target prioritization, and new abilities to use vehicles like the Armoured Transport and navigate crouched or prone spaces.
Battle Royale and Gauntlet Changes
The REDSEC modes receive focused updates. Loot flow has been adjusted, with Armour Plates added to the Ammo Drop Strike Package and a new high-value Armor Drop package introduced. Safe and MRAPV spawns now include 2 Armour Plates instead of 1. Map destruction values in REDSEC are tuned so heavy objects like concrete take fewer Sledgehammer hits. Progression in both Battle Royale and Gauntlet has been reworked to better reward time invested, with a significant XP increase for the average player. In Battle Royale specifically, the score from kills and damage assists has been increased by 50%.
With the definitive patch notes now public, the Battlefield 6 community can prepare for a transformed battlefield on April 14. The introduction of the LTV and Ripper Machete provides new tactical options, while the deep systemic shifts in progression, the defibrillator charge mechanic, and vehicle balancing promise to refresh the meta. Combined with hundreds of quality-of-life fixes and enhancements to Portal and AI, update 1.2.3.0 stands as a foundational update designed to refine the core experience and lay the groundwork for the future of the game, even as dataminers uncover hints of more unreleased content awaiting in Season 3.
