In Crimson Desert, mastering your arsenal is key to survival. Among the many combat mechanics, elemental infusions stand out, offering powerful ways to enhance your attacks. While some elements like Wind and Lightning are readily available, Frost requires a dedicated journey through specific challenges. This guide details the complete process to unlock the Frost element, from ascending a towering spire, defeating a formidable boss, and solving the intricate Abyss puzzles that await.
Ascend The Spire Of Ringing Truth
The journey begins at the Spire of Ringing Truth in West Pailune. The interior is under construction, forcing you to navigate planks and scaffolding to reach the summit. Utilizing the Axiom Force’s Aerial Maneuver ability is highly recommended to pull yourself between floors, significantly speeding your ascent. Upon reaching the top, locate the large bell. Target the rotting planks supporting it with your Axiom Force to trigger a cutscene. The bell will crash down through the tower floor, granting access to the previously sealed basement.
Defeat Priscus The Ancient
The primary obstacle to obtaining Frost is the boss battle against Priscus the Ancient in the spire’s basement. Preparation is crucial: stock ample food and ensure your gear is at least Refinement Level 5. Unlocking the Nature’s Snare skill and its Nature’s Retribution sub-skill is vital for this fight. Priscus is a flying mage who summons cubes that fire lasers, preferring to stay airborne. The strategy focuses on staggering him to force him to land.
When Priscus summons cubes for a laser barrage, activate Nature’s Snare to absorb the attacks and then use Nature’s Retribution to fire them back. This deals significant stagger damage and protects you. Timing is key, as some lasers have fast animations. Avoid directly downward-fired beams, as they are hard to counter but easy to dodge. The optimal counter opportunity is when Priscus flies high and summons cubes around himself; immediately use Nature’s Snare then.
Be aware of his dive-bomb attack, which creates black smoke explosions. Dodge the initial impact and roll towards him to avoid the subsequent blasts, creating a damage opening. When Priscus moves to the arena center and becomes invulnerable, cease attacking. Either sprint circularly around the arena or, if you have sufficient spirit, activate Nature’s Snare to absorb the full laser barrage. Upon defeating him, a teleporter will lead you to the Abyss.
Ether Rest Puzzle
Upon teleporting to the Abyss, your first puzzle is Ether Rest. Use the surrounding fans to glide into the opening of a spinning tower. Inside, find a circular switch above a central cage; interacting with it allows you to rotate the cage. Create a doorway leading to an internal fan and ascend. In a seemingly doorless room, locate a wall with a large circular hole. Use Nature’s Grasp to raise this section, letting it lock in place once the skill ends. This reveals a switch; use Axiom Force on it to spin the room and create another makeshift door.
Continue ascending until you find a room with multiple fans and a floating Abyss Core. Take the Core to the room’s top opening and place it on the pedestal beneath a floating cube. Walk up the cables to the building’s peak, then use a large fan to glide to the opposite island. Perform a Force Palm strike on the circular switch there to complete the puzzle, activating a triangular gate to the next island. Before the next puzzle, a platforming section requires using the Visione to see and ride invisible moving platforms.
Frostbitten Paradise Puzzle
At this puzzle, manually pick up a cube emitting a laser beam and position it so the beam hits a switch. This lowers a barrier, allowing entry into a long hallway. Step on the square pressure plate immediately to your left upon entering; this shifts the central floor, revealing a lower hallway. Drop down, grab the rectangular Abyss Core, and slot it into the receptacle beside a barrier. This lowers another barrier on the left containing a second beam cube.
Important: Do not fall into the pit below the moving platform; doing so sends you back to the surface, requiring a full puzzle restart.
Move the second cube near the yellow switch in the lower hall to deactivate a shield along the right side. Ride the moving platform down the hall, jumping across a gap to an opening on the right. Inside, find a square Abyss Core and another beam cube. Removing the Core from its podium starts a conveyor belt moving towards you. Place the beam cube facing south on this belt. Re-placing the Abyss Core reverses the belt’s direction, sending the cube to an adjoining room to activate a switch.
Follow the hallway next to the conveyor belt into that room, pass through the lowered barrier, and retrieve the beam cube used earlier for the platform. Bring it back to the conveyor room and place it on a podium adjacent to one of two large yellow switches. Remove the Abyss Core again to reverse the belt, take the cube off, and place it on the other raised platform opposite the second switch. Enter the newly opened room, grab the rectangular Abyss Core, and bring it to the room with the two beam cubes.
Now reverse the steps: place a beam cube back on the conveyor to lower the shield to the adjoining room. Return the second cube to the switch controlling the barrier in the moving platform hallway. Place the rectangular Abyss Core in this hallway. Finally, return the beam cube to its initial podium, ride the moving platform to the end, and slot the rectangular Core into its receptacle to activate a teleporter. Take it to the room above, hit the large floor switch with a Force Palm, and collect the Abyss Artifact. Proceed right through the traversal section to the final puzzle.
Path Of Trials Puzzle
The final Abyss puzzle is an environmental battle. Passing through the tall gates beyond the Abyss Gate triggers rapidly dropping temperatures that cause damage. Survive by activating and navigating a series of torches to maintain warmth. Follow the torches northeast to a room with floating platforms. Climb the wall, go left through a door, and ascend an icy ramp to a generator.
Remove the rectangular Abyss Core from the generator, descend the stairs, and take the first left into the furnace room. Climb the furnace room wall and follow the path to find a slot for a square Abyss Core, with the Core itself frozen beside it. Grab the frozen Core and return to the furnace, dunking it into a pool of lava in the corner. Leave it until the ice melts, then quickly carry it back to its slot. Move swiftly, as the Core will refreeze. Once positioned, slam it in with a Force Palm. Climb above this spot and perform a Force Palm on a circular switch to finish the puzzle. Collecting the Abyss Artifact above this switch grants a free skill point and, ultimately, unlocks the Frost element for your use.
Unlocking the Frost element in Crimson Desert is a rewarding test of combat prowess, puzzle-solving skill, and environmental navigation. By systematically conquering the Spire of Ringing Truth, overcoming Priscus the Ancient, and persevering through the layered challenges of the Ether Rest, Frostbitten Paradise, and Path of Trials puzzles, you add a potent and versatile tool to your elemental arsenal, essential for progressing through the game’s later stages.
