The Team of the Season (TOTS) promotion is one of the most anticipated events in the EA FC 26 calendar, marking the pinnacle of recognition for players who have performed exceptionally throughout the real-world football campaign. This year’s extensive TOTS schedule kicks off with a focus on the Major League Soccer (MLS), bringing a wave of highly upgraded cards into the game. Leaks have already surfaced, revealing the full roster of players set to be honored, with Lionel Messi unsurprisingly headlining the squad. This article will detail the leaked MLS TOTS player list, confirm the official launch date and time, and outline the broader TOTS release structure for the coming weeks.
EA FC 26 MLS TOTS Release Date and Start Time
The MLS Team of the Season will officially enter EA FC 26 packs on Friday, April 17. The rollout will commence at the standard content update time of 6 PM BST. This release is not isolated; it represents the first wave of a multi-league TOTS event. On the same date, packs will also feature Team of the Season squads from three other leagues: the Eredivisie, a Rest of Europe collective, and Serie A. This simultaneous launch means a significant influx of elite-level players will be available from the outset, with additional players expected through Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) and Objective-based Highlights.
Leaked MLS TOTS Player List for EA FC 26
According to reliable sources, including the prominent leaker FutSheriff on X, the complete MLS Team of the Season lineup has been revealed ahead of the official announcement. Lionel Messi, given his transformative impact on MLS, leads the attack. Speculation suggests his TOTS card could feature up to four PlayStyles+, potentially making it the most powerful Messi iteration available in EA FC 26 this cycle. While the full, official statistics are yet to be confirmed, the leaked list provides a clear picture of the players set to receive upgrades.
Full Leaked MLS TOTS Squad
The leaked roster includes the following players: Dreyer, Luna, Roldan, St. Clair, Najar, Blackmon, Glesnes, Arfsten, Ayala, Berhalter, Evander, Surridge, Bouanga, and Messi. This list encompasses a mix of established stars and standout performers from the 2024 MLS season. Notably, some high-profile players are absent from the initial leak, with Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung Min Son being the most conspicuous omission. FutSheriff noted that there remains a possibility for additional players, including Son, to be released via SBCs or other content pathways post-launch, offering hope for fans of players who may have narrowly missed the initial squad selection.
The Broader EA FC 26 TOTS Schedule and Structure
The MLS TOTS launch is merely the beginning of a prolonged content period. The Team of the Season promotion is designed to last for over a month, with new league-specific teams dropping each subsequent week. Following the initial batch featuring MLS, Eredivisie, Rest of Europe, and Serie A, the schedule will systematically cover the world’s top leagues. The Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and other major competitions will each receive their dedicated TOTS releases in the weeks that follow. This staggered approach ensures a continuous flow of fresh, high-quality content, with hundreds of TOTS players ultimately becoming available across various acquisition methods.
Acquisition Methods: Packs, SBCs, and Objectives
While the core TOTS players for each league will be found in packs—including standard, premium, and any special promotional packs—EA FC 26 typically supplements these releases with alternative acquisition routes. Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) will offer specific TOTS players, allowing players to earn them by submitting squads meeting certain criteria. Similarly, Objective-based “Highlights” players can be unlocked by completing specific in-game tasks, such as winning matches or scoring goals under set conditions. These methods provide guaranteed avenues to obtain powerful cards without relying on pack luck.
Strategic Considerations and Market Impact
The arrival of TOTS cards invariably shakes up the EA FC 26 Ultimate Team meta and economy. These cards represent some of the highest ratings available in the game cycle, often featuring maxed-out key attributes and enhanced PlayStyles. As such, they become immediate targets for competitive squad building. The simultaneous release of four league teams on April 17 will create a substantial supply of high-end players, which may temporarily impact the market prices of similar, non-TOTS cards. Savvy players often use this period to sell off older meta cards before their value depreciates and to invest in the new TOTS offerings that will define the end-game phase.
Player Evaluation and Selection Rationale
The selection of players for MLS TOTS, as seen in the leak, appears to be based on standout performances during the 2024 MLS season. Lionel Messi’s inclusion is a given, given his league-leading contributions. Other names like Bouanga, Evander, and St. Clair have consistently delivered high-level performances for their clubs. The absence of a player like Heung Min Son, despite a strong individual season, may relate to the specific timeframe or statistical metrics used by EA Sports’ selection algorithm. However, the potential for SBCs ensures that deserving players who missed the initial cut can still receive recognition.
The leaked MLS Team of the Season for EA FC 26 sets the stage for an exciting month of content, blending real-world football excellence with in-game upgrades. With a confirmed launch on April 17 and a robust roster led by Lionel Messi, players can immediately begin planning their squad enhancements. As the broader TOTS schedule unfolds across the Premier League, La Liga, and other top leagues, the Ultimate Team landscape will evolve dramatically, offering fresh challenges and opportunities for squad building. Keeping abreast of official announcements and further leaks will be key to maximizing the value gained from this pivotal promotional period.
