The highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Mochimaru Sakaki’s popular light novel series, Sekai Saikyou no Majo, Hajimemashita: Watashi dake “Kouryaku Site” wo Mireru Sekai de Jiyuu ni Ikimasu, has been officially confirmed for an October 2026 premiere. The announcement, made by production company Pony Canyon, included the reveal of the main staff, lead cast, a captivating teaser visual, and the first promotional video, setting the stage for this unique isekai fantasy adventure. The story follows Lorna Hermit, a young woman ostracized by her family for possessing what is deemed a useless SSS-Rank ability, only to discover its true, game-breaking potential in a world reminiscent of an online role-playing game.
Leading the production is director Jouji Furuta, known for his work on the 2021 Shaman King reboot, with series composition handled by Shouji Yonemura of Parasyte: The Maxim fame. Character designs will be crafted by Yuuki Morimoto, and the animation production will be a collaborative effort between studios Bridge and Aisle. The protagonist, Lorna, will be voiced by Azusa Tachibana, who is set to bring the character’s journey from outcast to omnipotent witch to life. The premise centers on Lorna’s “Internet” skill, which allows her to access a modern-day online strategy guide invisible to everyone else in her fantasy world, granting her unparalleled knowledge to acquire rare items and live entirely on her own terms, with humorous twists like her confusion over modern internet slang.
The source material began as a web novel in May 2022 before being published as a light novel by Square Enix with illustrations by ririto; its fifth volume was released in May 2025. A manga adaptation by Tamaki Toga has been serialized since May 2023, with its 12th volume scheduled for release in May 2025. For English-speaking audiences, Yen Press licensed the light novel in May 2025 and has already published the second volume as of April 2025, ensuring international fans can follow Lorna’s story ahead of the anime’s debut. With its creative premise, seasoned production team, and a premiere date set for over two years from now, Sekai Saikyou no Majo, Hajimemashita is positioned to be a significant entry in the isekai genre when it arrives in Fall 2026.
