A new gameplay video for Forza Horizon 6 has been released, offering the most detailed look yet at the activities that will populate the game’s open-world setting of Japan. The footage, published by IGN as part of an exclusive partnership with developer Playground Games, confirms the racing series will maintain its signature formula of organic exploration while introducing new event types and a returning progression system.

The core philosophy of the Forza Horizon series has always been to create a living festival of speed, where the world itself invites constant discovery. This new gameplay demonstration solidifies that Forza Horizon 6 will continue this tradition. The Japanese landscape is shown to be densely populated with points of interest, progression objectives, and races scattered across virtually every corner of the map. This design ensures players are perpetually incentivized to explore beyond the main roads, with rewards and challenges waiting in both bustling urban centers and serene rural vistas.

The video emphasizes how these activities are woven seamlessly into the game world. Unlike traditional racing games that utilize loading screens or separate menus, Forza Horizon 6 maintains an uninterrupted flow. Players simply drive through the Japanese countryside and cities; upon entering specific designated zones, events begin automatically. This seamless integration is a hallmark of the Horizon experience, preserving immersion and keeping the player behind the virtual wheel at all times.

The gameplay spotlight focuses on two distinct event categories that highlight different driving disciplines. The first is the Time Attack, a precision-based challenge where drivers must complete a circuit or point-to-point route in the fastest possible time. This mode tests vehicle handling, cornering skill, and consistency on the diverse Japanese roads.

The second event type highlighted is Drag Racing, a staple of car culture that demands explosive acceleration and perfect gear shifts. The footage suggests these drag strips are integrated into the open world, likely on long, straight sections of highway or airport runways, allowing players to engage in head-to-head quarter-mile duels without breaking the game’s immersive flow.

While these two types were featured, the video implies a return of the series’ vast array of event types, including street races, cross-country rallies, PR stunts, and showcase events against unconventional opponents. The familiar
