April is here, and for Prime Gaming subscribers, that signifies the arrival of a fresh, curated batch of free games. Amazon has unveiled the entire roster of twelve titles set to be distributed throughout the month, offering a compelling mix of deep strategy classics, indie curiosities, and narrative adventures. This month’s selection is particularly notable for featuring gems like the complete edition of a legendary turn-based tactics series, along with a significant historical strategy expansion. This guide provides the complete, detailed schedule for Prime Gaming’s April 2024 offerings, from the already-live titles to those dropping later in the month, and details exactly how to claim them for keeps.

Prime Gaming’s release strategy for April involves dropping new titles every Thursday. The list includes games redeemable across multiple platforms, primarily via code grants for GOG and direct links for the Epic Games Store, ensuring players can build their libraries on their preferred PC storefronts. The first two titles of the month are already available for claim as of April 2nd.

The month kicks off with two heavyweight offerings, setting a high bar for strategy enthusiasts.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack (GOG Code): This is the definitive edition of the modern classic that revived the turn-based tactics genre. The pack includes the base game, the acclaimed Enemy Within expansion, and all secondary DLC. It offers a masterclass in strategic gameplay, permadeath tension, and narrative-driven combat against an alien invasion.

Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES (Epic Games Store): This is a DLC pack for the recent Total War: PHARAOH title. It introduces four new playable factions and legendary leaders from neighboring civilizations, including the Babylonians, Assyrians, Mycenaeans, and Trojans, significantly expanding the game’s strategic and cultural scope in the Bronze Age setting.

The second week takes a turn towards more unique and quirky experiences, blending adventure with business simulation.

A Rat's Quest: The Way Back Home (Epic Games Store): A charming 3D platformer and adventure game where you play as a clever rat on a perilous journey through a human-sized world. It combines exploration, light puzzle-solving, and stealth mechanics in a detailed, immersive environment.

King of Retail (GOG Code): Dive into a deep and satirical business simulator where you build and manage a retail empire from a single store to a nationwide chain. The game focuses on economic strategy, store customization, marketing, and navigating the cutthroat world of commerce.

Mid-month offers a triple dose of diverse genres, from arcade action to farming hybrids and detective work.

Snake Core (GOG Code): A fast-paced, modern take on the classic Snake arcade formula, infused with rogue-lite elements. Players control a mechanical snake, collecting power-ups, battling enemies, and evolving their cyber-reptile across dynamically generated levels.

Monster Harvest (Epic Games Store): A unique blend of farming simulation and creature collection. Farm, explore, and use magical slime to mutate your crops into helpful “Planimals” that can accompany you on adventures in the world of Planimal Point.

Detective Agency: Gray Tie Collector's Edition (Legacy Games Code): A hidden-object puzzle adventure (HOPA) title where you step into the shoes of a detective solving a complex case. The Collector’s Edition typically includes bonus gameplay, an integrated strategy guide, and extra in-game content.

The fourth week presents two critically acclaimed narrative-driven experiences, focusing on emotional survival and corporate sci-fi noir.

Neo Cab (GOG Code): A survival game about emotional endurance, where you play as Lina, the last human driver-for-hire in a neon-drenched, automated city. Your goal is to keep driving, keep earning, and find your missing friend while managing your own emotional state through interactions with passengers.

The Pale Beyond (GOG Code): A harrowing and choice-driven narrative adventure of polar survival. After your expedition’s captain disappears, you must take command, manage your crew’s morale and resources, and navigate the unforgiving icy wilderness in search of the lost sister ship, The Viscount.

April concludes with a final trio of games, offering arcade fun, classic strategy, and an offbeat action-comedy.

KinnikuNeko: SUPER MUSCLE CAT (Epic Games Store): A ridiculous and action-packed 2D side-scroller featuring a supremely muscular cat on a mission to rescue its owner. Expect over-the-top combat, humorous animations, and pure, unadulterated feline brawn.

Fantasy General (GOG Code): A faithful digital adaptation of the revered 1996 hex-based strategy board game. Command armies of fantasy creatures in a classic turn-based war, balancing army composition, hero units, and tactical positioning on dynamic battlefields.

Pinball Spire (GOG Code): A 3D first-person video pinball game with a fantasy twist. Explore dungeons and defeat enemies not by direct combat, but by skillfully playing on magical, trap-filled pinball tables integrated into the game world.

Claiming these games is a straightforward process, but it requires an active Amazon Prime or Prime Video subscription. The games are a benefit of the membership, not a separate service. To secure your titles, simply visit the official Prime Gaming website or navigate through the benefits section of your Amazon account. Once logged in, browse the “Games” tab to see all available claims. Click on the desired game and follow the prompts; you will either receive a unique code to redeem on a platform like GOG or be directed to link your Epic Games Store account for a direct library grant. It is crucial to claim each title during its specified availability window, as once claimed, they are yours to keep permanently, even if your Prime subscription lapses later.

Games Arriving on April 9th
