Your PC has one anti-cheat service running, and it’s literally blocking the game’s own anti-cheat from connecting. Maddening, right? But the fix is simple, and you don’t need to dig through registry files or reinstall Windows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The error \u2014 “The anti-cheat service refused the game executable” \u2014 happens when another anti-cheat service is already running on your system. WARDOGS uses Elitra anti-cheat (the game’s launcher calls it). If you’ve got Riot Vanguard (from Valorant<\/a> or League of Legends<\/a>), Ricochet (Call of Duty), or any other kernel-level anti-cheat active, they conflict. The game’s launcher sees another anti-cheat occupying the same space and nopes out.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Kill Conflicting Anti-Cheat Software<\/h2>\n

This is the fix that<\/a> works for most people. Don’t skip it.<\/p>\n

Look at your system tray \u2014 that little arrow near the clock on the bottom-right of your screen. Click it. You’ll likely see a few icons hiding there.<\/p>\n

Riot Vanguard<\/strong> is the most common culprit. Right-click its icon, select Exit Vanguard<\/strong>. Do the same for any other anti-cheat icons you spot \u2014 Ricochet, BattlEye, EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat), or whatever else is hanging out.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Restart Your PC<\/h2>\n

This isn’t filler. Some anti-cheat services don’t fully release their hooks until Windows reboots. After you’ve closed everything, restart your computer completely.<\/p>\n

Do not just shut down and turn it back on \u2014 use the Restart<\/strong> option. That flushes the kernel-level drivers properly.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Launch WARDOGS Again<\/h2>\n

    If repair doesn’t work, you can uninstall and reinstall Elitra from that same setup file. Click Uninstall<\/strong>, then run the setup again and click Install<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Step 5: Verify Game Files Through Steam<\/h2>\n

    Corrupted game files can trigger the same error. In Steam, right-click WARDOGS, go to Properties > Installed Files<\/strong>, and click Verify integrity of game files<\/strong>. Steam will scan and replace anything broken. Restart Steam afterward.<\/p>\n

    Step 6: Disable Windows Memory Integrity (If You Have BSODs)<\/h2>\n

    If you’re seeing blue screens along with the anti-cheat error (especially the SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED or KMODE_EXCEPTION), memory integrity in Windows Security might be the problem.<\/p>\n

    Common troublemakers: inputx64.sys<\/strong> (from Razer or other RGB apps), Corsair’s iCUE<\/strong>, or MSI Afterburner<\/strong>. You can disable the service using Command Prompt as admin with these commands:<\/p>\n
