Behind the scripted paths and careful camera work, a handful of exploits let you break collision, skip triggers, and even peer at half-finished levels the studio probably hoped you’d never see. Here are the ten most useful glitches you can reproduce today — and what each one tells us about how the game was built.

The Super Jump That Breaks Elevation Boundaries

You know that wall in the Knock Knock mission, right after you punch through the building? Head to the interior wall on your left, the one that looks like it should be solid but is actually a paper-thin collision trap. Sprint into it and jump at the apex — Logan will clip through and gain a massive vertical boost, sometimes clearing two-story heights.

What’s actually happening: the wall’s collision mesh has an unclosed vertex along its top edge. The game interpolates Logan’s capsule collider through the gap as he rises, and because the physics tick doesn’t re-evaluate horizontal velocity mid-climb, he keeps ascending until his head hits a legitimate ceiling. You can chain these jumps to reach rooftops that were never meant to be traversable. One tester on Reddit managed to land on a distant crane that had full LOD textures, suggesting it was a planned traversal point cut late in development.

The Perpetual Tree Slide

Early in Turn Back the Clock, you slide down an old tree trunk to reach a lower path. If you release all controls and do nothing, Logan will keep grinding on the tree’s invisible edge indefinitely. The game tries to nudge you forward with a faint UI prompt after about 12 seconds, but the slide never ends until you manually jump.

The root cause is a missing end-of-slide trigger volume. Most slide surfaces in Insomniac games have a small box collider at the bottom that fires a StopSliding event. That collider is either absent or placed a few units too low, so the sliding state machine never transitions back to locomotion. It’s a trivial fix, so expect it patched in the first stability update.

Out of Bounds in the Canadian Wilderness

During the Tracking Red segment, you’ll climb over a fallen log and see a white painted rock to your right. Jump onto the rock, then perform a running jump toward the cliff face — you’ll phase through a single-sided mesh and land in an enormous open world that was originally the game’s first hub.

This area is a gold mine of cut content. You’ll find railroad tracks with full collision physics and unique footstep sounds, partially textured trees that become invisible from certain angles (classic 2D billboard LOD), and, most telling, a set of concrete barriers arranged to form a parking lot — complete with NPC spawn points that fire harmless civilians who then walk straight into a death barrier. The layout strongly resembles a prototype open zone, likely scrapped when the team committed to linear chapters.

The Madripoor Sidewalk Sinkhole

In the mission The Hand You’re Dealt, look for a streetcar stop near the central market. Stand on the pavement for about 20 seconds. Randomly, NPCs will clip into the ground up to their waists, then pop back up. It’s never Logan — only the pedestrian animations.

The issue is a corrupted walk-mesh tile. The navmesh for that specific section is missing its y-lock constraint, so the animation root bone writes the NPC’s position on top of the existing ground height instead of offsetting it. The pedestrian’s IK foot system then tries to correct, causing the waist-deep sink. Repeatable only about 30% of the time, but consistent enough to replicate.

The Helicopter Chase Desync

Late-game chase sequence: you’re riding a motorcycle, jumping between vehicles. Just before the crane-pass section, destroy both crates on the first truck bed. Then vault over the crates’ remains. Logan will enter a floating state, drifting upward until he hits a kill plane about 40 feet above the road.

This is a known heuristic bug in vehicle-mounted animation rigs. The crate destruction triggers a Vault event, but because the crates are already gone, the system never registers a landing surface. Logan’s vertical velocity is set to a small positive value, and the gravity scalar intended to pull him back to the vehicle is never applied because the parent vehicle isn’t flagged as a ValidLanding. Result: infinite float until you die or reload.

The Fountain Fountain of Japan

In the Lost in Kanto chapter, after the scene with Jean’s capture, run to the Izakaya billboard near the fountain. Climb the wall beside it, transition to the awning, then jump to the row of trucks behind the shop. You’ll exit the mission bounds and gain full control over a large chunk of the Tokyo rooftops.

What’s remarkable here is the asset streaming. You can find a building with an open garage door that reveals a fully modeled interior with desks, computers, and even a coffee cup — asset reuse from an earlier Ratchet & Clank title (the coffee cup texture is a direct port from Rift Apart). It’s proof that Insomniac’s shared asset pipeline often leaves leftover geometry in builds.

The Harry Potter Platform Wall

Same out-of-bounds area in Japan: head toward the main street and watch the traffic. Vehicles will drive directly into a solid-looking building facade and vanish. The building has no back face, so cars simply despawn the moment their bounding box passes the front plane. If you position Logan just right, you can see the vehicles’ collision meshes reappear on the other side, floating in midair.

This is a classic streaming volume mismatch. The traffic despawn zone is placed about three units behind the building’s front wall, but the building’s own collision mesh extends two units further. Vehicles exit the volume before they’ve visually cleared the building, so they pop out the other side in a half-invisible state.

The Armor-Claw Cosplay Bug

If you equip the X-Men ’97 animated suit and then enter the cabin from the main menu, sometimes Logan’s cowl appears over his hair — so he has the full suit but his pompadour is sticking through the mask. The same trick works with the bone claw sets if you swap suits mid-load.

The bug is in the outfit-swap function. It applies the mesh override before the hair LOD system has finished loading. On a standard PS5 SSD, this is a rare race condition; on PS5 Pro’s faster storage, it’s actually more common because the asset loads before the clothing system transitions.

The Last Stand Gauntlet Wall Clip

In the Crucible of Tears gauntlet, during wave 15, enemies spawn from a door on the far left. Run toward that door and perform a slide into it. If you time it so the slide ends exactly as the door opens, you clip through the geometry and fall into a void below the arena. The soft-lock is immediate — you can’t die, so you have to restart.

The door’s open animation moves its collision volume before the NavMeshCutter component updates, leaving a window of about 4 frames where the navmesh is gone but the door model hasn’t moved. Slide covers enough ground to pass through that gap.

The Invisible Swamp

In the Sedona chapter, after the raft encounter, there’s a particular muddy section where stepping on certain brown patches triggers no footstep audio — just silence. It’s a tiny detail, but it indicates a missing surface mapping. The terrain’s PhysicalMaterial layer is set to either default or carpet, likely a copy-paste error from an earlier prototype.

You can exploit this silence to detect invisible trigger volumes. If you suddenly hear footsteps again where the ground looks identical, you’ve stepped into a zone that was supposed to have been flagged as mud but wasn’t. It’s useful for speedrunners who want to know exactly when they’ve entered a new area before the camera changes.

Patch 1.001.005 fixed the Perpetual Tree Slide by inserting a kill box after six seconds — cheap, but effective. The Super Jump requires a more complex fix because it involves the wall mesh itself. Insomniac is likely to patch the out-of-bounds routes in the next hotfix, but the data-mining community has already extracted early hub layouts from the game’s packaging. The question isn’t if these areas will be explored, but how soon someone ports them into a free-roam mod.

Insomniac shipped Marvel’s Wolverine as a tightly linear experience, but that doesn’t mean the code is leakproof.
