The update, version 1.300.300, lowers base enemy health, reduces the stagger threshold, boosts Dylan’s damage scaling, and cuts the cost of respeccing. The changes are already live across all platforms.

The core issue the hotfix addresses is enemy durability during the first few hours. Players who hadn’t stacked many upgrades found certain fights dragging, especially in close-quarters combat where stagger windows and ability chains are supposed to be the payoff. Remedy is lowering the base health of most enemies and reducing the “falter level” required to stun them. That means you should hit those stagger opportunities more often, and get into the execution side of combat without needing to wear enemies down for as long.

The health and falter adjustments aren’t limited to regular enemies. The Dancer and Former bosses are included in the same changes.

Dylan’s Damage Scaling Gets a Later-Game Boost

Alongside weaker enemies, Dylan himself is now stronger. Remedy increased the maximum errand strength and maximum ability strength. These boosts aren’t spread evenly — there’s a curve, with larger gains later in progression. The more upgrades you unlock, the more aggressively your damage output scales. The intention is to make progression feel more connected to your build, rather than having every enemy feel like a similar number sponge.

Respeccing Becomes Cheaper and More Available

The hotfix also encourages build experimentation. Remedy permanently reduced the cost of respecting your character. It also increased the number of reset items available from vendors across the game. Right at the beginning, the Artist (the first resonant boss) now drops two reset items instead of one. This gives players more room to test different combinations without feeling that every build mistake costs a pile of resources.

Given the complexity of Control Resonant’s upgrade system — aberrant forms, combat abilities, talents, core upgrades, status effects — cheaper respecs remove hesitation from trying something completely different.

UI Clarity: Stats Now Make Sense

Two specific UI text changes improve how stats are explained. The aberrant strength description was previously “multiplier X cents.” It now reads “damage and falter X percent” — a direct statement of what the stat does. The “build power” wording was also clarified. The old version said it was “calculated based on equipped weapon forms, talents, and core upgrades.” The new wording explains it comes from “unlocked combat abilities, aberrant forms and upgrades, talents, and core upgrades.” The numbers themselves aren’t changing; the goal is to make the progression system easier to read when you’re figuring out where your power is coming from.

Assist Mode Remains a Separate Option

The hotfix changes are separate from the game’s assist mode, which gives players individual sliders for enemy aggression, incoming damage, and Dylan’s ability recovery rate. Those settings were already available and remain independent of the patch.

What This Means for the Player Base

The most immediate effect is that early-game combat should feel less like an endurance test. Players who were frustrated by tanky enemies in the first few missions will likely see a noticeable difference. The scaling curve for Dylan’s upgrades also means that later-game builds will feel more impactful relative to early-game ones, which could shift the perceived difficulty balance from a grind to a smoother power climb.

One second-order effect: by making respecs cheaper and more accessible, Remedy is effectively encouraging players to engage with the game’s full build potential earlier. That could increase player retention, as experimenting with different aberrant forms and abilities becomes a safer investment. But it also risks diminishing the sense of challenge for players who enjoy optimizing under resource constraints. The trade-off is clear — the developers are prioritizing exploration over friction.

The hotfix is already rolling out.
