It’s not about damage. Not about stagger. Not about showing off your sick combos.

It’s about geometry.

Most combat abilities in this game are built around numbers—big hits, status effects, DPS rotations. Push doesn’t care about any of that. If you’re fighting near a ledge, a rooftop, a bridge, or any vertical drop, Push turns that environment into an instant-kill button. The enemy’s health bar becomes irrelevant. Their level? Irrelevant. Their armor, shield, mold resistance? All meaningless when they’re falling six stories onto concrete.

You stop thinking about damage rotations. You start thinking about positioning. And that completely changes how you approach every fight.

How to Unlock Push (and Why You Want It)

Push comes from defeating the Dancer resident—one of the main bosses you’ll encounter midway through the story. After taking it down, the game presents you with a choice: Push or Ground Slam.

Ground Slam looks flashy. Big AoE damage, satisfying impact, big numbers on screen. It’s the obvious choice if you’re thinking conventionally.

Don’t think conventionally.

Ground Slam locks you into a long animation. It requires you to be airborne, meaning you need to set it up. In cramped boss arenas or chaotic fights, that windup gets you hit. Push, on the other hand, is instant. Press the button, and enemies fly backward. No charge. No leap. Just yeet.

The game lets you try both abilities in the gap before committing. Use that. Reset the dummy, test each one, and see which feels more natural in a real fight. Ground Slam has its uses—breaking horizontal doors, some AoE crowd control—but Push will save your life more often.

If you pick Push, you can still get Ground Slam later by respeccing with a reset item. But honestly, most players don’t bother. Push is that good.

How to Use Push for Maximum Yeet Value

Push works best when you’re fighting in vertical environments—which is basically all of Manhattan in Control Resonant. Rooftops, elevated walkways, collapsed highways, parking garages. Every zone has ledges.

The strategy is simple: position yourself between the enemy and the edge. Wait for them to charge or attack. Then Push. They go flying, and you collect the rewards without a single health point lost.

There’s one catch: you don’t get health drops from kills caused by falling damage. The game counts it as environmental death, not your execution. So if you’re low on health, you might want to save Push for clearing weaker enemies and save the big hits for direct damage. But for fast clears and safe crowd control, Push is unmatched.

It also works on many boss fights where arenas have bottomless pits or areas that drop into lower levels. Some resonant boss encounters have kill zones designed exactly for this. The Dancer itself? The arena has pillars and ledges you can use. Experiment.

Synergies and Builds That Love Push

Push pairs well with any loadout that wants breathing room. If you’re using a slow weapon like Crush (the hammer), you need time to charge attacks. Push creates that space. If you’re using Strike (the fast daggers), you can weave Push between combos to interrupt enemies before they finish their own attacks.

The talent tree has indirect support for Push. The “improved push” node extends the knockback distance, but even without it, the base range is generous. What really matters is the power recovery talent—since Push costs power, you want to regenerate quickly. The sanctioned retaliation talent (50% more power on retaliation) works well because you can dodge, then immediately Push.

Artifacts that boost power regeneration or reduce ability cost also help. The “battery pack” artifact (if you find it) makes Push nearly spammable. Combine with the inferno combat ability to set enemies on fire before yeeting them for extra satisfaction.

One niche use: Push can interrupt the mold enemy’s cloud attack. If you see a spore burst charging up, a well-timed Push cancels it and sends the enemy stumbling. It’s not an obvious interaction, but it works.

The Real Reason You Take Push

Push isn’t about damage per second. It’s about control. It turns every ledge, every rooftop, every open window into a hazard for them. You stop dodging and start directing the flow of combat.

Most players will pick the shiny damage ability. They’ll grind for optimal DPS rotations. They’ll obsess over numbers.

You’ll just push a guy off a building. Laugh. And move on.

That’s worth more than any stat sheet.

The most counterintuitive thing about Control Resonant’s Push ability?
