Detailed Patch Notes for Crimson Desert Update 1.03.00

The latest patch for Crimson Desert, version 1.03.00 (1.000.202), brings a wide array of improvements. Below is a detailed breakdown of all changes and fixes implemented in this update.

Content Updates and Additions

This section covers modifications to the game world, quests, and general gameplay content.

The Grey Mane Encampment has been improved. Specifically, the placement of key NPCs within the Pyilon Encampment has been adjusted, and the scale of its attached farm and ranch has been expanded for better utility.

A bug occurring in Chapter 7, where completing specific quests while under a bounty (Wanted status) caused issues, has been fixed. This resolves problems such as bounties displaying as 0, inability to dispatch mercenaries in some regions, and investment funds at the bank not updating properly when Pyilon is liberated while wanted.

The fast-forward function is now available even in standard cutscenes where the letterbox is not displayed. Players can adjust the fast-forward speed via a new option in the Other > Language & Play settings.

Abyssal Traces are now easier to locate. General usability and visibility for puzzle gameplay have been enhanced, with clearer indicators for when the Palm Blast skill can be used on specific mechanics and improved hints from lanterns and light reflections.

Access routes to the Leaping Spire have been improved, and some Abyss terrain has been adjusted.

A balance change: While in a Wanted state, players can still use banks, but they can no longer deposit gold bars or update investment funds.

A progression blocker in Chapter 9, “Sanctuary of Penance,” which prevented quest completion at a specific step when destroying guardian objects, has been resolved.

Fixed an issue where obtaining certain quest-related items before the quest was activated would block its completion. Also fixed a bug where, after specific quests, NPCs like Gontier (Equipment), Henri (Blacksmith), Bronton (Stable), and Lora (Outfits) in Pyilon City would be incorrectly replaced by other NPCs.

New music has been added; patch 1.01.00 introduced three new base combat tracks for the Fayewell continent (excluding Crimson Desert and some areas), and this patch adds one new track for the loading screen BGM.

Controls, Gameplay, and Combat Improvements

Significant refinements have been made to player movement, controls, and combat mechanics.

Players can now use the world map to fast-travel (Warp) even while mounted, falling, swimming, or climbing walls.

Lock-on behavior during boss fights has been improved. Hard lock-on will now be maintained at longer distances against bosses. Conversely, lock-on will no longer be applicable against certain especially large bosses.

A new skill for Cliff has been added: Crow Sky Kick. Prerequisites are Focus Lv.3, Glide Lv.2, and Crow’s Charge. The skill activates by using Focus during a glide, then pressing the dodge key.

The skills of Demian and Uncha have been enhanced to make them more useful in open-world play. They have gained access to the Power of Providence and Veil of the Wind skills, along with related abilities. Demian’s Shield Throw and Uncha’s Burst Cannon now have similar effects to Cliff’s Palm Blast. The control keys for Demian’s Aerial Leap and Uncha’s Vertical Ascent have been changed.

Fixed an issue where follow-up attack combos would be delayed after a player’s attack was guarded by an enemy. Corrected a bug where characters would intermittently move at abnormal speeds during specific skill combos. Fixed an issue where the Light Reflection skill would not be maintained while moving on a mount. Improved feedback for objects like walls, buttons, and cranks so a dedicated animation plays when they can no longer be moved.

Specific platform fixes: For Keyboard/Mouse, the operability of Power of Providence has been improved. For Controllers, a bug where tilting the right stick in one direction during the use of a Focus skill would inadvertently trigger the Veil of the Wind skill has been fixed.

UI Refinements and Improvements

The user interface receives numerous tweaks for clarity and convenience.

The icon color for Faction Quests has been changed.

When using Visione, only the list of obtained Memory Fragments will now be displayed.

A new function has been added to the Inventory allowing players to stack or unstack all items at once. Players can also now view item details directly from the Storage interface.

In the Mercenary List, a checkmark is now displayed next to the currently selected mercenary.

Fixed a UI bug where, when viewing character status information via “View Details” from the Inventory or Equipment Wheel, the attack power and critical hit rate of some equipment like necklaces and cloaks were incorrectly displayed as double.

Map clarity has been significantly improved. On the World Map and Mini-map, icons for already acquired treasure chests are now distinct. Similarly, icons for visited and unvisited caves, as well as for restored and incomplete Abysses, are now differentiated. Fixed a bug where custom map markers would not be maintained after the first reconnection following their placement.

Graphics, Performance, and New Settings

This update introduces major graphical options and platform-specific enhancements.

PC-Specific Additions: Added support for Intel Arc GPUs. Compatibility and performance for various Intel GPUs are planned to be improved sequentially. New options in Settings > Video include Intel XeSS 3.0 under Upscaling Mode and Intel XeSS Frame Generation. A note: Using Intel XeSS 3.0 and Frame Generation on Intel Arc A-series GPUs may cause the screen to display incorrectly. Also added are AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2 and, under Settings > Graphics, new options for Displacement Amount and Detail Ornament Mesh. Fixed noise artifacts caused by screen distortion effects when using DLSS-RR.

Console-Specific Additions: For PlayStation 5 Base and Xbox Series X, a Ray Tracing Enhancement option has been added to Settings > Video. For the PlayStation 5 Pro, a PSSR Sharpness option has been added.

General Visual Improvements: Enhanced the quality of indoor environment lighting. Improved the visual representation of water surface reflections. Fixed a bug where rain appeared excessively bright from certain angles.

New Customization and Accessibility Options

Player control over their experience has been greatly expanded with several new settings.

Under Other > Language & Play, new Weapon Display Settings have been added. This includes separate toggles for Melee Weapons and Ranged Weapons, with options to show “All” or “Selected Weapon Only.”

Under Other > Accessibility, a Minimum Font Size option has been added (applies after game restart).

Under Other > Language & Play, a Fast-Forward Speed option has been added, allowing speed to be set up to 4x.

Several new camera and control options have been added under Other > Accessibility: Camera Field of View, Camera Vertical/Horizontal Position, Auto-Rotate Camera to Movement Direction, and Correct Camera Position to Movement Direction.

Performance, Stability, and Localization

Stability and optimization improvements have been made across PC, Mac, and consoles, addressing various crash issues. The overall stability and performance have been optimized. Furthermore, localization issues across all supported languages have been corrected and the translation quality has been improved.

Other Fixes and Miscellany

Fixed a crash that occurred when using the Helm of Knowledge as Demian or Uncha. Corrected an issue where there was no sell limit for corn at certain shops. Various other minor in-game bugs have been addressed.

Crimson Desert update 1.03.00 demonstrates a clear commitment to refining the core adventure, empowering players with more control over their visual and gameplay experience while smoothing out the rough edges reported by the community. The addition of meaningful settings for weapon display, camera control, and fast-forward speeds, combined with crucial bug fixes and skill balances for Demian and Uncha, ensures that both new and returning explorers will find a more polished and engaging world to uncover. These comprehensive adjustments lay a stronger foundation for the ongoing journey through the harsh and beautiful lands of Pywel.
