CD Projekt Reports Surging Revenue Driven by Cyberpunk Franchise
CD Projekt has concluded its fiscal year 2025 with a pronounced financial uplift, primarily fueled by the enduring commercial strength of its Cyberpunk franchise. The company’s sales revenue reached 867 million PLN, marking a nine percent increase compared to the previous year. This growth trajectory underscores the successful lifecycle management of its flagship titles, even as the studio intensifies investment in its next generation of projects.
Cyberpunk Sales Momentum and Strategic Platform Expansion
The Cyberpunk franchise was the definitive revenue driver, experiencing a twelve percent year-on-year growth. This performance was significantly bolstered by the strategic launch of Cyberpunk Ultimate Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform and the inclusion of the base edition on PlayStation subscription services. The Switch 2 edition proved particularly impactful, leading to a fivefold increase in revenue for the goods and materials segment, largely attributable to physical cartridge sales. This move exemplifies CD Projekt’s adeptness at extending product reach and monetization across diverse gaming ecosystems.
Profit Growth and Substantial Investment in Future Titles
Net profit saw an even more dramatic rise, climbing 33.7 percent to 594 million PLN. This robust profitability provides the capital foundation for the company’s ambitious development pipeline. CD Projekt invested over 513 million PLN in future releases, with current focus areas being The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. The latter project completed its conceptual phase in April 2025 and has now entered active production. Simultaneously, development on a new intellectual property, codenamed Hadar, is progressing dynamically under CD Projekt Red Studio.
Organizational Expansion and Development Resource Allocation
The scale of CD Projekt’s commitments is reflected in its growing workforce. The total number of developers increased from 707 in February 2025 to 933 in February 2026. Resource allocation is heavily skewed towards the next Witcher installment, with 499 developers assigned to The Witcher 4. Cyberpunk 2 commands 149 developers, while the new IP Hadar and the project Sirius are supported by 26 and 71 developers respectively. This distribution highlights the studio’s prioritization while fostering parallel innovation.
Milestone Achievements and Structural Divestment
The past year also consolidated several landmark achievements for the company’s library. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt surpassed 60 million copies sold, Cyberpunk 2077 exceeded 35 million copies, and the acclaimed expansion Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty sold over 10 million copies. In a significant structural change, CD Projekt sold the GOG platform in December 2025 to its co-founder, Michał Kiciński, for 90.7 million PLN. The transaction was fully financed externally, and Kiciński remains the second-largest individual shareholder of CD Projekt, holding ten percent of the firm’s shares.
Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski provided insight into the nascent Hadar project, stating that the team has established the foundations of this entirely new IP. He confirmed that distinguishing features of the world and key pillars have been defined, providing a foundation not only for the game but potentially for other future products. Nowakowski emphasized that development is active and iterative, with the creation of multiple prototypes directly in Unreal Engine to live test and verify gameplay mechanics. This approach signifies a mature, prototyping-driven development philosophy aimed at ensuring innovative and polished final products.
The financial results of 2025 position CD Projekt at a pivotal juncture. The company is leveraging the sustained profitability from its established franchises to fund a multi-faceted and ambitious future slate. With Cyberpunk continuing to deliver strong sales, The Witcher 4 in development, Cyberpunk 2 in production, and a new IP being prototyped, CD Projekt is orchestrating a balanced portfolio strategy aimed at securing its leadership in the narrative-driven AAA gaming space for years to come.
