Google Adds 5 Features for Better Website Visibility in AI Search

Google has introduced five significant new features designed to enhance website visibility within its AI-powered search experiences, specifically AI Mode and AI Overviews. These updates aim to surface more relevant websites and deeper information directly within AI-generated answers, benefiting publishers, news sites, and users seeking comprehensive insights.

New Perspectives for Deeper Exploration

The first major update introduces a “New Perspectives” feature. This function adds suggestions for further information below certain AI answers, directly linking users to unique articles or in-depth analyses on various facets of the searched topic. This move helps combat information superficiality by guiding users to expert content they might otherwise miss, effectively turning AI overviews into gateways for deeper research rather than deada-end summaries.

Enhanced Subscription and First-Hand Experience Features

Google is also improving access to subscription-based news. Links from a user’s personal news subscriptions will now be highlighted within AI Overviews and AI Mode, a feature managed through Google’s “Subscription Linking” system. Publishers must register via a dedicated form to participate. Furthermore, recognizing the growing user desire for personal advice, AI answers will now include previews of perspectives from public online discussions, forums, and social media. These “first-hand experience” links are supplemented with context like the creator’s name or community source, adding a valuable human layer to informational queries.

Refined Linking and Context Within AI Responses

To better integrate helpful websites during the reading experience, Google is placing more links directly within the body of AI responses, positioned immediately adjacent to relevant text. For example, a listicle-style AI answer might feature a link to a detailed guide right next to a specific bullet point. Additionally, on the desktop experience, hovering over any link in an AI answer will now trigger a quick preview of the linked webpage, displaying key information such as the site name and page title to provide immediate context before clicking.

Collectively, these five features represent a strategic evolution in how Google’s AI search interfaces with the broader web ecosystem. By pushing links, subscriptions, diverse perspectives, and contextual previews to the forefront, Google is addressing early criticisms that generative AI search might obscure traditional website traffic. For publishers and SEO professionals, these changes underscore the ongoing need for high-quality, in-depth, and authoritative content to capture visibility in an increasingly AI-curated search landscape.
