The Sims 4 Patch Tunes Up Infants for Faster Feeding and Changing

The upcoming patch for The Sims 4, scheduled for May 12, introduces a significant round of gameplay tuning focused on improving the experience of caring for virtual infants. Among the key adjustments are changes aimed at making routine caretaking less time-consuming for players. Feeding infants will now be a faster process, and infants themselves will get hungry more slowly. Similarly, the time required to change a diaper at a changing table has been reduced by approximately one-third. These quality-of-life improvements are designed to streamline the infant life stage, allowing Sims parents to spend less time on repetitive tasks and more on other aspects of family gameplay and storytelling.

This patch also addresses a critical and distressing bug related to child welfare within the game. Previously, a glitch could cause the game to incorrectly remove children from their families due to perceived neglect, even when the Sims parents were adequately caring for their needs. While the forthcoming fix will prevent this error from occurring in the future, the developers have confirmed that children who were already wrongfully taken away cannot be restored to their households, a sobering limitation of the correction. Beyond infant care, the update packs over 150 fixes, including the resolution of a persistent social reputation bug where Sims labeled as “scandalous” for activities like having a secret love child or WooHooing in public would permanently retain that status, unable to clear their name even after being forgiven or blackmailed.

Other notable tweaks highlighted in the patch notes include a fix for Sims leaving dirty diapers on the floor instead of disposing of them in a nearby bin—a small but welcome change for domestic realism. In a more whimsical adjustment, the frequency of autonomous dancing has been tuned down significantly, with Sims now only breaking into dance about once per day. This comprehensive update demonstrates the developers’ ongoing commitment to refining The Sims 4 experience, balancing bug fixes with gameplay tuning to enhance both stability and player enjoyment across the game’s vast simulation systems.
