The Best Source Farm in Control Resonant (60 Second Route)

Learn the fastest Source farm in Control Resonant by targeting vending machines for massive currency gains.

By Central
Destroy vending machines in Control Resonant for 1,000+ Source each, yielding 14,000 per cycle in under ten minutes.
Highlights
  • Vending machines in Control Resonant drop between 1,000 and 1,200 Source per kill.
  • A focused vending machine route yields up to 14,000 Source per cycle in about six minutes.
  • Pacing boss kills is crucial to ensure vending machines respawn after resonant cycles.

You need more Source. The game’s currency funds your weapon upgrades, artifact crafting, and those expensive living shards at vendors. Grinding random enemies feels slow. It doesn’t have to be.

The fastest Source farm in Control Resonant isn’t killing Hiss heavies. It isn’t clearing world feats for zone XP rewards. It’s hunting vending machines.

The fastest Source farm in Control Resonant isn't killing Hiss heavies.

These things are everywhere. They’re hostile. And they drop 1,000+ Source per kill. A focused route yields 5,000 Source in under ten minutes. Here’s exactly how to do it without wasting time.

Why Vending Machines Beat Everything Else

Each vending machine you destroy drops between 1,000 and 1,200 Source. That’s more than most heavy enemy encounters. And they die in three to four hits with any upgraded weapon. A heavy takes thirty seconds of dodging and combos. A vending machine takes five.

They also respawn. Kill a resonant boss — any of them — and the world cycles. Enemies reset, world feats refresh, and every vending machine comes back. That makes them a renewable resource tied to your progression pace.

Plus, they sometimes drop reset items. Those cost 1,500 Source at vendors. Getting one from a machine is essentially bonus savings.

The Route: Where to Hit First

Not all zones have the same density. Focus on these three areas early:

Central Zone – Two machines. One near the diner where you solve the appliance puzzle. Another behind the construction site to the southeast. Clear them, then move.

West Incursion Zone – Three machines. One on the parking garage roof near the gravity fault entrance. One behind the auction house. One tucked behind a truck near the zone’s southern fast travel door.

Evacuation Zone – Two machines. One near the subway vault entrance. One on the elevated platform above the railyard station.

After you finish a resonant cycle, loop back to these zones. The whole run takes about six minutes. Each machine drops roughly 1,000 Source. Fourteen machines per cycle is a guaranteed 14,000 Source minimum.

You’ll also pick up stray upgrade materials from crates along the route. That’s free extra value.

The Counterargument: Why Not Just Farm Heavy Enemies?

Some players argue that farming heavy Hiss enemies is better because they drop upgrade materials like aberrant slivers and corrupted elements alongside Source. That’s true. Heavies do drop crafting components. Vending machines don’t.

But here’s the problem: time efficiency. A single heavy fight takes anywhere from thirty seconds to two minutes depending on your build and enemy level. The Source drop is inconsistent — sometimes 600, sometimes 1,200. The materials are useful, but you’ll get plenty of them naturally from world feats and story progression. Source is the bottleneck for buying living shards and unlocking new aberrant forms.

Vending machines give guaranteed Source in a fraction of the time. If you need materials, farm heavies during a normal play session. If you need Source fast, vending machines are strictly better.

How to Make the Farm Even Faster

Two things speed this up significantly.

First, unlock the crush secondary weapon (the hammer) as early as possible. It deals massive stagger damage and breaks the machines in two charged hits instead of three or four with lighter weapons. That shaves seconds off each kill.

Second, invest in the sustained dominance talent. It extends your dominance state to 15 seconds after an execution. You won’t often execute a vending machine, but the dominance buff doubles your primary damage. That means faster kills on anything else you hit along the route, reducing overall run time.

Also, remember to check the vendor truck in each zone after you’ve collected your Source. Vendors stock limited quantities of living shards for 4,000 Source each. If you’ve just farmed 14,000 Source, you can buy three living shards right there. That’s three new weapon forms or combo finisher unlocks.

The One Thing That Will Wreck Your Farm

Killing resonant bosses too quickly without refreshing world feats will shrink your vending machine pool. Each zone has a finite number of machines per cycle. If you power through four resonant cycles without clearing the machines in between, you’ve left thousands of Source on the table.

Worse, after the final resonant cycle, world feats and enemies stop respawning. Vending machines do not appear to respawn indefinitely. I’ve seen reports from players who rushed the story and ended up with only a handful of machines in post-game. Don’t be that person.

Pace your boss kills. After each resonant cycle, run your vending machine route. Clear every machine. Then move to the next boss. You’ll stay ahead of the upgrade curve and never feel broke.

The vending machine farm isn’t glamorous. But it works. And in Control Resonant, having enough Source means you can always buy exactly what you need when you see it — instead of grinding for hours hoping something drops.
