Dead by Daylight Update 9.500.100 Buffs Trickster and Expands Blood Moon Event

By Central

Dead by Daylight’s latest patch, version 9.500.100, has been deployed across all platforms, bringing a significant gameplay adjustment for The Trickster and a major expansion to the ongoing Blood Moon event. This update focuses on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and stability enhancements aimed at refining the asymmetrical horror experience for both Killers and Survivors.

Trickster Receives Key Buff to Laceration Mechanics

The most notable change in this patch is a targeted buff for The Trickster, one of the game’s high-mobility, projectile-based Killers. Previously, his Laceration Meter—which builds up on Survivors hit by his throwing knives—would decay over time regardless of his current state. Update 9.500.100 alters this dynamic by pausing the decay of the Laceration Meter while The Trickster is in his Showstopper (S-Rank) state. This applies to all Laceration Stacks, whether they were applied before he entered S-Rank or during it.

This change is a substantial power increase for skilled Trickster players. The S-Rank state, activated by landing enough knife throws, increases his throwing rate and movement speed. The pause on decay removes a key pressure to quickly capitalize on built-up Laceration before it fades, allowing for more strategic play and potentially securing downs that were previously harder to achieve. The Killer’s power description has been updated to reflect this new behavior.

Blood Moon Event Gains Widespread Perk and Power Support

With the Blood Moon event now live as of March 26, the patch significantly broadens its integration into core gameplay. The event’s central objective, repairing Blood Generators, now interacts with a far greater portion of the game’s toolkit.

Expanded Perk Compatibility

Behaviour Interactive has enabled support for most Survivor and Killer perks to function on Blood Generators. This means perks that trigger on generator repair, regression, or completion will now work as intended during the event, allowing players to utilize their preferred builds without limitation. For the few perks that remain unsupported, a new visual marker indicator has been added to provide clarity and prevent confusion.

Full Killer Power Integration

Similarly, all Killer powers now correctly interact with Blood Generators. Whether it’s The Hag setting traps nearby, The Artist sending crows, or The Skull Merchant deploying drones, Killers can use their unique abilities to defend these event-specific objectives just as they would standard generators. This creates a more cohesive and challenging experience during the Blood Moon.

Quality of Life Improvements for Survivors

The update introduces several changes that streamline the Survivor experience during the event and beyond, focusing on inventory management and scoring.

Blood Cans No Longer Occupy Item Slots

A major logistical hurdle has been removed for Survivors. Previously, picking up a Blood Can—the event item required to repair Blood Generators—would force a Survivor to drop any regular item (like a toolbox or med-kit) or Killer-specific item they were carrying. Now, Blood Cans can be carried alongside both a Regular Item and a Killer Item. The functionality of all items remains unchanged; this simply grants Survivors much-needed flexibility, eliminating the punishing choice between event participation and bringing a helpful tool into the trial.

Shared Score Rewards for Blood Generators

Scoring for the event has been made more cooperative. The substantial score event awarded for completing a Blood Generator is now shared among all Survivors in the trial, regardless of who performed the final repair. This encourages teamwork and ensures all participants are rewarded for the team’s collective effort in progressing the event objective, aligning with the communal goal of the Blood Moon.

Comprehensive Bug Fixes Enhance Stability

The bulk of the 9.500.100 patch notes is dedicated to a long list of bug fixes addressing issues across characters, maps, perks, and the user interface. These corrections are critical for ensuring fair and consistent gameplay.

Character and Power Fixes

Numerous character-specific bugs have been resolved. These include fixes for animation issues, such as incorrect male Survivor animations while filling generators and unnatural bending for Taurie Cain during repairs. Several Killer powers received critical adjustments: The Trickster’s Combo Meter will no longer decay when grabbing Survivors, and his Style Rank decay has been fixed after breaking pallets or walls. The Knight’s guard order aura highlights have been restored, and an issue causing missing leg visibility with a specific outfit has been corrected. Problems with The Demogorgon’s portal highlights and aura visibility during traversal, as well as The Skull Merchant’s drone aura behavior, have also been addressed.

Map and Environment Corrections

Map-specific glitches that could unfairly advantage or disadvantage players have been patched. This includes fixing projectile collision on railings in maps like Eyrie of Crows and Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, resolving pathing and collision issues for Knight guards on Family Residence, and correcting a black screen issue that could occur when The Nurse used her Blink in the Trickster’s Delusion map. Spawn proximity issues for totems on Ironworks of Misery have also been adjusted.

Perk and User Interface Refinements

Key perk bugs that affected game balance have been squashed. An issue causing the healing buff from “We’re Gonna Live Forever” to persist incorrectly has been fixed. Problems with “Five Moves Ahead” related to activation and cooldown have been resolved, and the incorrect aura display for “Corrupt Intervention” and “Deadlock” has been corrected. On the UI front, fixes include resolving overlapping text in tooltips, correcting blood point multiplier displays, and ensuring The Trickster’s S-Rank UI properly disappears when the state ends.

A Foundation for Smoother Gameplay

Update 9.500.100 follows a larger content update and serves as a crucial stabilization patch. By directly enhancing a Killer’s viability, deeply integrating a limited-time event into the core game loop, and addressing a swath of technical issues, the developers have focused on polishing the existing player experience. These changes demonstrate a commitment to refining gameplay mechanics and ensuring that both new events and established systems work together seamlessly. For the community, this translates to more reliable matches, greater build diversity during the Blood Moon, and a Trickster that can more effectively hunt down survivors under the eerie red glow of the event’s namesake moon.
