Capcom has announced the release of a new free game mode for Resident Evil Requiem titled Leon Must Die Forever. This extra content is now available for players on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and Series S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW. To access this mode, players must first complete the main campaign of Resident Evil Requiem. It shifts the game’s focus towards intense combat, starring the iconic character Leon S. Kennedy, providing a distinct and challenging experience that extends the title’s longevity.

A New Mode Focused on Action and Replayability

The Leon Must Die Forever mode is designed as a high-octane replay experience. Players return to familiar areas from the main story but now face significantly more powerful versions of enemies. The primary objective is a race against time to defeat a final boss before the clock runs out. This structure creates a compelling loop of strategy and fast-paced action, testing players’ mastery of the game’s mechanics and their knowledge of the environments. Five progressive difficulty levels ensure the challenge scales to accommodate both new players and seasoned veterans seeking the ultimate test.

Central to the mode’s gameplay are special “enhancer abilities,” which are unlocked as players eliminate enemies and fill an enhancement bar. This system rewards aggressive and skillful play by providing powerful temporary bonuses. Furthermore, Capcom has implemented procedural elements where the order of areas, progression paths, and available ability options change with each playthrough. This randomization dramatically increases the mode’s replay value, ensuring that no two attempts feel exactly the same and encouraging players to experiment with different strategies.

Update Brings Key Improvements and New Merchandise

Alongside the new game mode, this update includes various bug fixes across all platforms. A significant enhancement for PC players is the addition of full support for the DualSense controller’s advanced features. This includes adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and motion sensor functionality, offering a more immersive gameplay experience that was previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version. This move aligns with a growing trend of bringing console-specific tactile features to the PC gaming space.

Capcom also confirmed the release of new official merchandise inspired by the Leon Must Die Forever mode, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. In a separate but related announcement, the company revealed the first official amiibo figures for the Resident Evil franchise. These collectibles, featuring characters Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, are scheduled for release on July 30. These additions represent Capcom’s strategy to expand the Resident Evil ecosystem beyond video games, catering to fans with physical collectibles and apparel that celebrate the series’ legacy and new content.
